Father’s Day Race – 4-Person Pit Bike Relay

Tyler Paul June 8, 2025 No Comments

We’ve been getting lots of questions about our Father’s Day race! It will be a 4-person, pit bike relay, 4 laps total. We have created a brand new cut track configuration for this. You will need a transponder (yours or rent from us). Trophies will be awarded to the top 3. The 1st place prize is a season pass to Canaan Lions MX. That’s a free gate fee, 1 free race, and a season membership. 2nd place is a free race and practice. 3rd place is a free practice! Pit bike rules apply. 12″ rear/14″ front max, 195cc max. No Surrons (etc.), KLX 140 (etc.). Good luck to everyone! Practice is Saturday, June 14th, and the races are Sunday, June 15th. Our normal race positive coming in a day or two.

    • Intermediate & Masters

    • 85cc & Juniors

Camping & Gate Fees

  • Saturday camping is allowed.
  • Sunday gate fees will also be collected at Saturday practice sign-up.
  • If you aren’t racing Sunday, your wristband will be cut off, and your Sunday gate fee will be refunded.
  • Wristbands must be worn to enter the track for practice.
  • Anyone without a wristband may not be allowed to practice.

Track Rules

  • Please don’t park behind the Chappys trailer.
  • No loud music (must not be heard outside your pit).
  • No fires.
  • No pit bikes, golf carts, or anything motorized after 3:00 PM Saturday.

Race Day Updates

  • We’re still working through trackside scoring issues. Thanks for your patience.
  • Our schedule has been tightened, and some classes combined.

Class Notes:

  • For mixed-age 65cc and 85cc classes, we provide optional class-identifying vests (non-restrictive).
  • Some big bike classes will do double gates. We’re monitoring this to ensure everyone gets full laps.
  • Pre-Novice classes are still being refined:
  • If you race a 50cc class, you cannot run Pre-Novice.
  • You may run a higher-cc Pre-Novice class if you are not competitive in the regular class speeds (e.g., 65cc Open and 85cc Pre-Novice riders significantly slower than the bottom 2 riders in 85cc class).

Class Renaming & Advancement

We’ve adjusted class names to better reflect our unique format:

  • Juniors
  • Intermediate
  • Senior

We’ve removed “Novice, Amateur, and Expert” – we use more than just lap times to place riders. Rider safety and development matter.

We are working toward advancing riders based on points, not just lap times. For now, we include suggested lap timesfor each class (subject to adjustment).

If you’re Top 10 in C class at other tracks, you may fit into Intermediate or Senior here, based on lap times, experience, and race craft.

If unsure, you can race in our Schoolboy or Premiere class.

  • The Premiere class is open—if you feel competitive, we welcome you to try.
  • If you’re not ready or deemed unsafe, we may black flag or notify you beforehand.

This track is designed to help riders grow, chase their first top 10, top 5, and first win. We want to provide a path for development that’s harder to find at other tracks.

Coaching

  • Tyler will not be available for coaching Saturday the 24th.
  • Damian Warner and other volunteers will be available!

Important Safety Reminder

  • Absolutely no one is allowed to enter the track area without a Canaan Lions Club MX member.
  • No warnings will be given.
  • Please review our full rules at canaanmx.com (https://canaanmx.com/).
  • Violations will result in strict consequences for everyone’s safety.

Race Order Chart

Tyler Paul May 20, 2025 No Comments

Here is the race order! Please take note of the colors and what they mean. Also, if you sign up for any of the pre-novice classes, you may not sign up for any other class in that category. Example…if you sign up for 65cc pre-novice you could sign up for the 50cc non-pre-novice classes if you meet the requirements…pre-novice is beginner level, no jumping. If you sign up for 65cc pre-novice, you cannot also sign up for 65 open. Hopefully this makes sense! Sorry for the confusion!

Sunday (5/11) – What a weekend

Tyler Paul May 14, 2025 No Comments

Next race weekend is May 24th practice, May 25th Race.

New Flyer

Tyler Paul March 29, 2025

New flyers coming to a motorcycle shop etc. you’ll notice some tweaks to our schedule. Nothing crazy. We switched our very popular NH/VT showdown so it doesn’t conflict with VT races. We added an alumni race May 25th. We are thinking two classes. Two motos each (4) laps.

First class will be, alumni beginning of time to 1999.
Second class, alumni 2000-2019.

We are working on getting special guests. I will have this post on the Canaan NH Lions Motocross Riders Forum, tag someone who. Might want to race. It’s not a lot of notice, but I wanted to hold this event when it’s not 110 degrees for some of our finer aged riders.

We have had a great response from first time riders, please don’t be shy. Reach out and ask questions, make plans and don’t be nervous to lean on us for what’s next. Our first practice is May 3rd, we will also have a bike/ gear sale that day. Our season starts May 11th with all kinds of fun things. We will have a mother child pit bike race. First prize is a free season of racing. This includes gate fees for Mom and rider. Practice fees and 1 free race for 7 race weekends for your rider. Runner up prizes in the works.

We are also looking for a head flagger (finish line). We need two folks who want to be in charge of watering. This would entail using the irrigation system. As always we need flaggers and volunteers to help with all different jobs. Please reach out. All jobs are 18+.
