Race Day (How To)

RaceDay (how to)

We will start as you pull onto ballpark road, check on your rider, remind them that’s nerves are normal and all part of the racing life, it usually gets pretty real going up that hill!

You will pull into the track and be greeted by our friendly volunteers (pull up as far as you can so you don’t block the road. On a practice day you will see an ez up that you get out and pay, we accept cash or credit for practice and race days . On race day you stay in your vehicle, you will sign a waiver, make sure everyone gets there wristbands and puts them on.

A practice day or race day is the same, go find a spot that suits the vehicle you are driving. Remember, space is a premium, it’s common to be close to your neighbors, it’s ok to go say hi to your neighbors, make sure they have enough room etc.

On a practice day you can take time to get set up, we will post the practice schedule at the tower. We make announcements all day informing you who’s up, who’s next.

On race day, registration is 7AM-9AM. You can get to the track before 7, if nobody is at the gate please get a wristband and pay when you see someone at the gate. We will be checking wrist bands, so please have one on. If you are a rider with no wrist band you won’t be allowed to sign up. On race day, it’s best to go get registered immediately, we always have a crowd in the clubhouse. There will be a registration flag out front of the large white building. Concessions sold all day on race day in this building.

You will fill out all fines available on the table 10’-0” into the door. To the right of the table that has forms, is our volunteers who will rent you a transponder for $15.00 You will leave your license as collateral. DON’T FORGET TO GET YOUR LICENSE AT THE END OF THE DAY! Once you have forms filled out, transponder in hand (if you own a transponder make sure you have your transponder number.

You wait in line, it usually takes 10-15 minutes. You hand your paper work in to one of 2-3 volunteers. They put you in the computer, stamp your paper, you go to your right about 5’-0” and pay your fees.

You head back to your pits get set up. Our mandatory riders meeting is 8:45 AM at the tower (look for the American flag on the pole) we will make announcements counting down when it’ll be (in 10 minutes etc).

Once the riders meeting has concluded (usually 5-10 minutes) you get ready for practice. We will announce the practice order. It usually starts with the very youngest and goes up from there. We will have vets in their own group this year, then big bikes .

We play the national anthem, everyone stands. Racing starts at or before 10AM. We run on our first motos. Have a brief intermission (our flaggers need a break and well deserved lunch) we will do small track improvements if needed to maintain a safe track. We will water and start moto 2, we aim for on or before 2pm.

At this time our volunteers who man the trophy table gets ready and expected first competitors to start collecting there trophy’s, this goes on until the end of our race day , we aim to end our race day by 6:30 PM.

This is a rough idea of what a practice and race day looks like, of course things are fluid, but these are some things that happen every weekend!
